Quarram Nature Reserve, Denmark WA

Don’t you love it when you explore a new area and you have no expectations and therefore you don’t get disappointed.

Dixie loves taking every 4wd track he spots and we often end up on a great adventure.

Whilst we were in Denmark, WA we headed down the South Coast Highway, saw a sign to Boat Harbour and figured it was worth checking out. Heading down the gravel road we spotted a track so we decided to head down it and found ourselves in Quarram Nature Reserve.

Greens Pool and Elephant Cove

Denmark in Western Australia (414kms south east of Perth) is a town I can see myself living in. It has a real hippie care free vibe to the place. I can see myself set up with a few acres and being self sufficient. Dixie will fit in straight away with his dreadlocks, I just need to sew up some bohemian pants for him!

Surfing at Ocean Beach, rediscovering Greens Pool and Elephant Cove has made my love for Denmark grow even more.

Greens Pool

Greens Pool is located 15km west of Denmark in William Bay National Park.  It is paradise but as we were there during the christmas break it was packed with holiday makers! We had to park miles away and walk down to the beach but it was well worth it.Read More »

Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, Albany WA

Albany in Western Australia is filled with stunning beaches and so much of the coast line has crystal clear water, rocks on the beach and large hills going down to the water.

Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve

The nature reserve is located 35 kilometers east of Albany (450km south of Perth) and there are so many different beaches to explore and lots of camp grounds located on the beach.

Little Beach

Little Beach

Little beach has the brightest turquoise waters and the whitest sand I have ever seen. Looking at the waves the water is transparent you can see straight through the wave.Read More »

Surf Lesson at Ocean Beach

Dixie handed me a wrapped small square box for my birthday. When I opened it I was confused to find some surfboard wax as I was expecting a necklace I had been eyeing off. It was then revealed to me that I had a surf lesson booked in Denmark, Western Australia.

Arriving at Ocean Beach I was excited and nervous. My last attempt at surfing was in Bali and I fractured my foot so I was hoping that this lesson would have a better outcome.Read More »

Sandy Cape Nov-15 007.JPG

Sandy Cape Recreational Park

Sandy Cape Recreational Park just north of Jurien Bay (223 kms north of Perth) was a spot that farmers often camped at and the land was used by squatters. In the 1920’s they erected makeshift shacks but in 2002 the shacks were removed and Sandy Cape became a Recreational Camping Area opening in December 2004. It is now a very popular camping area and we often spend time camping here.Read More »

Lakeside Camping at Lake Towerrinning

Lake Towerrinning

Lake Towerrinning seemed to appear out of nowhere and it looked like an oasis after driving in the dry Australian country side. I was surprised at the size of the lake (256 hectares) as it was much larger than I expected. It is a semi-freshwater lake and is a popular spot for swimming, water skiing, kayaking and picnics. The lake is also home to long neck turtles and over 171 species of birds.Read More »
