Have you ever had trouble trying to find a tourist attraction in a new city? Found yourself walking in circles? Strolling the streets aimlessly?
So many times I recall being in a new city following the tourist signs which lead to a major attraction, then the signs seem to stop. You know you must be close but you just can’t find your way. You ask a local and things seem to get lost in translation.Read More »

Early summer mornings are spent at the beach, it is where our little family is the happiest. Collecting shells, searching rock pools for crabs, building sandcastles and splashing around in the water.Read More »
While we were spending some time in the country Dixie and I left the kids with the Grandparents and headed off to climb Castle Rock. This is the first date night (or is it date day) that we have had in a year. I think other couples would choose to go to one of the wineries located near by for their date night.
The Porongurup Range is 12 kilometres long and is located 24kms from Mt Barker or 48kms from Albany in Western Australia. There are 4 different walks you can take in the park and we opted for Castle Rock which had a Granite Skywalk at the top.
At the base of Castle Rock there are picnic tables, bbq’s and long drop toilets so you can enjoy the area before or after your climb.

The Gibb River Road is a trip Dixie and I are constantly talking about and hope to do soon. Today we have a guest blogger Rosemary McGugian who is the owner and operator of Best Of The Kimberley, the holiday and tour planning specialists in Broome. If you are planning on doing this trip I trust that her below tips will help you with your preparation.

Years ago I set of to backpack around the world on my own. I spent over two years travelling, working and had a blast.
All the photos I took were on film (showing my age). I used to post home photos in one package and then the negatives in another letter just in case one would go missing.
These photos now sit in a bookshelf gathering dust. I am going to scan some of these old photos and put on a special slide show night for you! Don’t you feel lucky?
Should the house burn down at least I will have some of my old travel photos to look at.Read More »
Don’t you love it when you explore a new area and you have no expectations and therefore you don’t get disappointed.
Dixie loves taking every 4wd track he spots and we often end up on a great adventure.
Whilst we were in Denmark, WA we headed down the South Coast Highway, saw a sign to Boat Harbour and figured it was worth checking out. Heading down the gravel road we spotted a track so we decided to head down it and found ourselves in Quarram Nature Reserve.

Denmark in Western Australia (414kms south east of Perth) is a town I can see myself living in. It has a real hippie care free vibe to the place. I can see myself set up with a few acres and being self sufficient. Dixie will fit in straight away with his dreadlocks, I just need to sew up some bohemian pants for him!
Surfing at Ocean Beach, rediscovering Greens Pool and Elephant Cove has made my love for Denmark grow even more.

Greens Pool is located 15km west of Denmark in William Bay National Park. It is paradise but as we were there during the christmas break it was packed with holiday makers! We had to park miles away and walk down to the beach but it was well worth it.Read More »
Albany in Western Australia is filled with stunning beaches and so much of the coast line has crystal clear water, rocks on the beach and large hills going down to the water.
The nature reserve is located 35 kilometers east of Albany (450km south of Perth) and there are so many different beaches to explore and lots of camp grounds located on the beach.

Little beach has the brightest turquoise waters and the whitest sand I have ever seen. Looking at the waves the water is transparent you can see straight through the wave.Read More »
Dixie handed me a wrapped small square box for my birthday. When I opened it I was confused to find some surfboard wax as I was expecting a necklace I had been eyeing off. It was then revealed to me that I had a surf lesson booked in Denmark, Western Australia.
Arriving at Ocean Beach I was excited and nervous. My last attempt at surfing was in Bali and I fractured my foot so I was hoping that this lesson would have a better outcome.Read More »
