Recently I completed a photo essay course at university and I want to keep practicing my photography. So on the 10th of each month I will share 10 photos. The photos have been taken by myself or my partner and it is a snippet of what we have been up to over the summer in Western Australia.
It is about finding life and beauty in the ordinary things of our day to day!
Augusta is a place I have been to many times but just as a day trip from Margaret River. I have not spent quality time in Augusta until lately and I fell in love with the coastal town. Summer holidays are in full swing and to tell you the truth I was dreading it! Worried about how I would entertain my two little children without Kindy and our usual activities. To my surprise I have been enjoying these school holiday. There is no need to rush around in the morning, the mornings are now calm. We have been spending lots of time at the beach swimming and pottering around the house.
Spending lots of time at home means we have been doing lots of craft, making and creating. My daughter JJ and I have been experimenting with a Sunprint Kit.
Photography is something that I struggle with and I often hand the camera over to my partner Dixie. I shy away from taking photos as he is much better at it than me. I decided it was time to take action so I enrolled with the University of Tasmania to do a Photo Essay Course.
I really enjoyed the course as it got me out of my comfort zone by capturing images that I wouldn’t normally shoot.

Summer Holidays are for hitting the beach with a bit of 4 wheel driving thrown in for fun.
We departed Perth and drove 120 kilometers north along the Indian Ocean Drive to a small coastal town called Ledge Point. The main beach was crowded with holiday makers so we didn’t stick around. We dropped the tyre pressure in our 4wds and followed the coast line back towards Perth.

Just like that another year and over! It feels like just the other day I was taking my daughter JJ to her first day of kindy. Now we are having end of year parties and saying farewell to her new friends.

My partner Dixie fitted a snorkel to our 100 series Landcruiser. I must admit I was a little nervous when I could hear drilling coming from outside. Then my two year old ran inside and said “look what Daddy is doing, he is putting holes in the car”. Shh don’t tell but I was thinking to myself maybe a professional should be doing this. Turns out I had nothing to worry about as he did a great job.
