I have never used Airbnb. I often find myself on their website looking at all the different accommodation options but I have never made a booking. Well that was until this weekend. Ok so it wan’t a true Airbnb experience, we were not sharing a house with the owners. Instead we had 70 acres of land to ourselves!
Many of my friends are turning 40! Instead of having a party which only leads to a hangover, a country getaway was arranged instead.
We drove along a narrow gravel road lined with tall trees to a secluded property south of Perth near Harvey. A soon as I caught a glimpse of the dam with a reflection of the trees on the water I felt relaxed. The house is set on a hill overlooking a green valley and dam.
In true country style I rose at the crack of dawn and took a walk around the property. It was just me and the kangaroos bounding across the farm.
I jumped in the row boat and headed out to the middle of the dam. It was totally relaxing especially because the kids couldn’t get to me! What a shame the boat didn’t have an anchor otherwise I would have stayed out there for most of the day enjoying the peace!
Prior to arriving at the property I told myself that I would not use modern technology for the whole trip. Take a break from the outside world. Thankfully I had a little helping hand as there is no internet service. The temptation was taken away!
We spent the days relaxing, walking in the garden and the children loved the Tipi. A unique feature is the fire pit inside. I am sure this is meant for ceremonies and other spiritual experiences. Instead all the children roasted marshmallows and had a sing along.
In the evening the children flopped into bed, they were so exhausted. While the oldies gathered around the fire pit, chatted and of course there was a quiet drink or two!
The property is called Kororo Retreat and is predominately a spiritual based venue with a temple! There are two large rooms, dongars and commercial kitchen and it can accommodate up to 30 people. The perfect spot to accommodate our large group.

What a great idea for a getaway. Sounds like you all had a ball. I’ve only used Airbnb once and it was brilliant. I’d definitely use it again.

Oh sigh – my kind of getaway – so lovely. Sure is a bonus that there was no internet service as temptation is hard to fight sometimes and a break from it all is so worthwhile. I’ve never booked anything through AirBnB but maybe I should look into it! #TeamLovinLife

I haven’t used Airbnb but I use Stayz (which is now Home Away). I also have a house listed on Stayz (our coast house). It’s good. I love your autumn pics. The reflections in the lake are gorgeous. #teamlovinlife

Do you believe I’ve not used Airbnb yet? Someone suggested I rent my place out while I’m overseas for a month in Aug/Sept but I’m not quite brave enough to do that. (Or probably to use Airbnb for my UK / Italy trip!) #teamlovinlife

We just stayed in an Air BnB as well. There are some great spots available to stay at in some amazing locations.

We are hosts of Airbnb and we love it! Our guests are amazing and have always had great experiences at our home! I personally use Airbnb for my travels overseas since I am an avid traveler.
