Dometic Follow the Sun Finalist

The phone was ringing in the other room, I raced to answer it however I was too late and it went to voice mail. Listening back to my message I discover that Dometic Australia had tried to call. For a while I could not figure out why they would be calling me and then the penny dropped. Maybe I was a finalist in the Dometic Follow the Sun competition.

My computer was not logging on quick enough for my liking and hitting the keys at a million miles an hour was not helping. Finally I discovered that they were announcing the winners today, could I be a finalist? I was so excited at the possibility that I could be in with a chance to go on a 3 month road trip on the east coast of Australia.

My phone was permanently by my side so I would not miss another call. Recognising the number on the screen as my phone rang I started to sweat and could feel my stomach turning in knots. After having a telephone interview I had to wait and see if I had made the cut. Later that day an email arrived to say that I am a finalist!! Woo-hoo you little ripper!

About Dometic Follow the Sun 

Dometic sell a wide range of quality products for Caravans and Motorhomes.  They have teamed up with National Breast Cancer Foundation to bring awareness to the public and raise funds for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

There are 3 road trips up for grabs, we are in the running to be a Dometic Ambassador travelling in a NBCF Pink Minnie Caravan, driving a supplied vehicle, plus travel expenses covered up to $10,000 and $5,000 worth of portable products.

Their aspirational goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. With 42 Australians diagnosed each day and seven dying from the disease, there is still much to do.

Final Round

We had to make a video and answer some additional questions for the final round of the competition. Fingers crossed we have done enough to get us over the line.

Raising money and awareness for breast cancer would be a priceless experience and we hope to make a difference. To show our children empathy, share our love of travel with the public and to personally grow from this experience is a once is a life time opportunity.

Life is too short not to follow the sun. Plus JJ has told everyone we are getting a pink caravan, I hope that we don’t make a liar out of her!

  1. OMG, that is sooooo exciting Anne. And what a wonderful cause. Well done to you for getting this far. Fingers and everything crossed that you get to follow the sun in a pink caravan. I’ll look out for you if you win! Can’t wait to hear. 🙂

  5. What a wonderful achievement. I also like the sound of their vetting process in thatthey don’t just rely on the written word but also interview you. I loved your description of missing the call, keeping the phone by your side and the knot in your stomach. It pretty much sums up how I would also have felt. Good luck!
