Hello 2018

I am sitting in my old faithful camp chair gazing out at grass tress, ferns with glimpses of blue peeking through the lush green landscape. Wellington Dam is in the distance and it is quiet as the children are entertaining themselves.

In the stillness I am taking time to think about my new year resolutions and what direction I want my blog to go in.

With every new year I set goals but rarely look back at them or attack them with much conviction. To be honest they are usually resolutions that don’t have much serious thought. This year the children will be at school and I will have more time to myself. For the past six years my life has mainly been focused on the children and finally I feel that I can regain a little be of me back.

To be honest I don’t know who I am any more. In my 20’s I was lost, a wild party girl travelling the world. Carefree easy going and making the most of my life. In my early 30’s I was a career woman which revolved around travel. Then I became a mother and life as a mum was not what I expected. I became anxious, serious and constantly worried about these little creatures who were in my care. Finally I found my feet but I am always learning how to be a good parent.

Now I am 40 it is time to put myself first (well every now and again)! What will life bring me this decade? I feel like it is time to find myself all over again.

Here are my resolutions/goals for 2018.

  • Get outdoors every day
  • Travel to a new destination
  • Take a photography course
  • Exercise regularly
  • Nurture friendships
  • Eat healthy
  • Cook something new each week
  • Grow a vegetable patch
  • Put more time into my blog
  • Do something that scares me!
  • Take on a new challenge
  • Do volunteer work
  • Reduce my time on social media
  • Find a new hobby
  • Take on a photography challenge
  • Give back to the community
  • Spend time alone
  • Practise gratitude
  • Lighten up!

I am excited to see what 2018 brings. I hope you will follow along and join us on our journeys.

  1. Those are great intentions. I don’t make resolutions because I can never stick to them and feel like a failure. I do have a list of 101 things in 1001 days though, and I’ll have fun continuing to work my way through that!
