Welcome to ten on ten! On the 10th of each month I share 10 photos from our family life. I know I am a bit late sharing this post but I am sure you can forgive me!
The heat was intense, it was a welcome relief when the weather turned. The sky grew dark, loud claps of thunder echoed through the sky and lightening could be seen in the distance.
My daughter JJ and I snuggled into our sleeping bags and listened to the rain on the canvas of our camper trailer. We picked up our journals and started writing about our adventures. We both experience the same day but our accounts and feelings vary slightly. It is interesting to see the world through the eyes of a five year old.
It made me realise that Guilderton is the ultimate nature playground! There are no shopping complexes, fancy restaurants, just a river and the ocean to enjoy! Plus it is only a short distance from Perth which makes for a quick getaway!
After our camper trailer was set up our first stop was to the lookout. The caravan park is located right on the river mouth so it was a quick trip up the stairs to soak in the view.
Master B who is three ran ahead yelling that there are goats on the hill. The child has a vivid imagination so I didn’t take to much notice.
What do you know he was right! It was like a scene out of the movie Sound of Music! I burst into song singing High on a hill was a lonely goatherd, Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo.
We were always on the river and I learnt some interesting facts like pelicans can stay in the air for 24 hours!
Tried to catch our own dinner but had to eat fish and chips from the local shop instead!
Stopped to chat to one of the locals! I am no snake expert but I am pretty sure he is a python. Well I hope he wasn’t a poisonous snake! Whatever he was he had lovely markings on his skin.
Loaded up the kayaks, headed up river and found our own little patch of dirt! We set the children up with a slip n’ slide going into the river. My legs hurt the next day as I got a good workout running up and down the sand dune with a bucket of water!
It was worth it to see the smile on the kids faces.
Even the rain couldn’t stop us from enjoying the great outdoors!
The kids played from sunrise to sun down. They entertained themselves using nature as their playground. Sticks used as crutches and seaweed was pretend food for the ducks. Just goes to show you that you don’t need fancy toys to keep them entertained!
Once the sunset it was time for our final nature play activity, stargazing! By the time the children crawled into their sleeping bags and rest their heads on the pillow they were asleep.
Then we got up and did it all again the next day! Nature is the best playground.

Your photos are beautiful! I recently went to Moore River for the first time in years. We just went for a quick stop on the way back from Lancelin but it’s such a lovely place, especially with kids. Will have to stay the night next time.

I’m not sure if I was the same when I was young but as an adult the idea of swimming in murky rivers creeps me out a little. The idea of not knowing what’s on the floor / bed of the river and what’s lurking beneath!!! Gorgeous pics as usual though! x #teamlovinlife

Nature is most definitely the best playground! We took our kids on hundreds of camping adventures when they were young and they now have a love of nature and the great doors instilled in them. Moore River looks like a perfect spot for kids. #TeamLovinLife
