Location

Conto Campground is located 21 kilometres south of the tourist town of Margaret River in Western Australia (270kms south of Perth). To find the campground head out of Margaret River on the Bussell Highway, turn right onto Boodjidup Road, left onto Caves Road and then right onto Conto Road.

The campground has gravel roads and is located near the beach however it is not in close walking distance.

Campsites

The campground had an upgrade in 2015 and there with 116 campsites nestled in the bush. There are 8 different areas you can camp in and they all have different facilities. Some of the areas have barbecues, washing up areas and each camp area has long drop toilets.

Quenda and Chuditch, are for caravans and camper trailers. Davies, Isaacs, Hamelin, Whistlers and Whalers are for small campervans, tents and swags. Wanil is for tents only

On arrival, you need to check in with the park rangers and they will allocate a campsite for you. You can book your campground online prior to arrival here. When booking there are symbols in each camp area to make it easy to decide which area suits your needs.

The toilets were cleaned regularly and the facilities were all in good condition.

Around Conto Campground

There are plenty of things to do around the campground and if you are a nature lover then this is the spot for you to immerse yourself in nature.

Caves

Lake Cave is a limestone cave and there is a beautiful reflection of the stalagmites and stalactites on the lake. The cave is located a short distance from the campground

Cape to Cape Track

The Cape to Cape track is 135 kilometres long and goes between the lighthouses of Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. The track mostly follows the coast and offers stunning views of the coastline. While we were there we hiked a small portion of the track and now we have a fire in our belly to take on the challenge and walk the whole track.

Conto Beach

Conto Beach is a stunning spot, popular with surfers.  It is a long stretch of beach with a rocky point, white sand and limestone cliffs. The beach has strong rips and it is not recommended for swimming.

Boranup Forest

Driving through the Boranup Forest you will be amazed at the sheer size of the Karri Trees. It is a beautiful tourist drive which winds its way through the forest. There are some beautiful walks, great places to picnic and there is also a small campground.
