Situated on top of a limestone cliff and looking down at the beach we could see a secluded camp ground. We were driving from Port Gregory to Horrocks when we took a track off to the side to do some exploring. As we are ones who never stick to the main road we often find some awesome spots and this is how we stumbled upon Little Bay.

After exploring the town of Horrocks we headed off to find Little Bay. Dropped the tyre pressure, put her into 4wd and follow the sandy track for 4.5 kilometres until we hit the beach.

The sheltered waters of the lagoon is the perfect place to launch our kayak and let the children splash in the shallows.

To the north, there are steep limestone cliffs and behind Little Bay is a large sand dune. JJ wanted to climb the dune so off we went making our way down an overgrown path to the bottom of the dune. Clearly, it is a popular spot for sandboarding as there was a rope to help with the climb. The climb got my heart rate up and the view from the top was superb. We could see the boys playing on the beach and whales in the distance. Feeling blessed to witness these gentle creatures making their journey north, heading to warmer waters.

Little bay is the perfect spot to waste the day away or if you like camping then why not pitch your tent.

Location

Horrocks is a town located 492 kilometres north of Perth and 22 kilometres west of Northampton. Little Bay is located 4.5 kilometres north of Horrocks and you need a 4wd to access the area.

Campsites

There are three designated camp areas at Little Bay which are set back from the beach with some bush for shelter. Two sets of long drop toilets are available but they are the only facilities. There is a maximum of 5 nights stay and it costs $15 per car. The campground is managed by rangers and run by Northampton Shire.
