Malaysia is a diverse country from the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, pristine beaches in Langkawi, rich heritage in Penang and the breathtaking scenery in Borneo. Offering a little bit of something for everyone.

Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia’s capital is Kuala Lumpur, it is great to spend a few days here before heading off to another part of Malaysia. The city is easy enough to get around on foot with the Golden Triangle being the main area. There are plenty of shops, hotels and restaurants to explore in the vibrant city. The Petronas Twin Towers gives you a great view of the city from the sky bridge. It is free to go the viewing platform however you want to get there early as it is a first in first served basis.

If you are travelling with children or you are a big kid yourself then I recommend going to Berjaya Times Square an indoor theme park.  If  theme parks are your thing then head a bit further out of the city (15 minute drive) to Sunway Lagoon. This place has everything! There are two hotels, rides, water park with a wave pool and animals. Located next to the theme park is a massive shopping centre with an ice skating rink, bowling alley, shops, cinema and so much more.

Penang

Georgetown is full of colonial buildings, temples, shops and great food. Penang food is amazing, the best I have ever tasted! Most of the hotels are located along the beach at Batu Ferringhi where you can spend the day relaxing and browse the markets at night.

Circle the island and see all that Penang has to offer, jungles, coastlines, farmland, fishing villages and even a snake temple. If you have a phobia of snakes I don’t recommend you go into the temple!

Langkawi

Langkawi is a beautiful tropical island with magnificent beaches. It has long sandy beaches, possibly the best in Malaysia. Much of the island is jungles where you will often see monkeys and there is also picturesque rice paddies. A highlight was taking the cable car to the top of the mountain to view the 99 islands in the region.

These three areas are the most popular tourist destinations in Peninsular Malaysia however there are plenty more attractions such as Cameron Highlands, Taman Negara and Melka just to name a few.

Peninsular Malaysia is a great stepping stone into Asia. There is no huge culture shock unlike other parts of Asia. It is very easy to get around and to communicate with the locals.
