Reflections on 2015

I feel like the year has gone in the blink of an eye and nothing much has happened. I have just been surviving raising two little ones and dealing with the strain of every day life, changing nappies, temper tantrums and never ended sickness.

Now that I sit down and really think about it we have had a great year and so much has happened.

Blog – I started my blog as I needed a creative outlet for myself, something I can do in between raising a small family. It has made me open my eyes and take note of the things around me. Notice the natural beauty that surrounds us and that I often took for granted. The blog is also a bit of an online diary so the kids can see all of our adventures when they are older and also see photos which may have been lost to the external hard drive.

Children – I forgot that at the beginning of the year Master B wasn’t walking and now he is running, jumping and can kick a ball. He has a mean kick on him and I am sure Dixie is already working out some AFL contracts for him! JJ has lost her baby face and has become a real little girl. She is very creative and her drawings have really improved, I can now tell that her picture is an elephant or what ever it may be. She is very head strong and determined, characteristics that drive me insane at the moment but these are attributes I will admire when she is older.

Travel – We had lots of little trips around Western Australia from the wheatbelt to the coast and we mainly camped. It was nice to spend time as a family away from technology and enjoy the natural beauty around us.

Work – Started my own little business, consulting for a farm stay. I still have a passion for the travel industry and that will be my direction for the future.

Fitness – I realised how much I need to keep fit not just for a healthy body but for a healthy mind. Also love the community spirit of my waterpolo team, it is great having the whole family involved.

Lows – All in all it was a positive year but unfortunately it ended on a sad note with someone I know taking their own life. I decided to be proactive and help to raise money for Sane Australia which deals with mental health.

Appreciation – Started to enjoy the small things in life and take in the moment, like surfing on the kids boogie board.

Lets hope that next year is just as good or even better and I look forward to sharing the journey.

Did you have a good year?

  2. It’s been a challenging, enjoyable, stressful, and pleasant year for me. Full of everything. I was going to write about it but I kinda buckled under the memories and the words wouldn’t come. Look forward to reading you in 2016!

  3. It is amazing how much we have happen in a year and how much our children change! Sounds like blogging has been a great way for you to keep track of all of that. That photo of you is awesome! Glad it has been a mostly positive year for you all. One of my best friends took her life when I was pregnant with Adam, it is such a hard thing to come to terms with and I still miss her so very much, so sorry you have suffered this loss. Thank you for sharing with #Fridayreflections

  4. Sounds like you had a pretty good year. So sorry you had to end on a sad note with the death of your friend. What a great cause you are not involved in. I hope 2016 brings you and your family all that you hoped for and more!
